Sometimes when I am about to paint for a client, I am shocked at the quality of previous painting done by professional painters- I recently was hired by a client for repainting several interior and exterior areas. This was a new home, and is in a really good area, so the curb appeal is suppose to be top notch, and high quality. Any of the repainting I did switch over to Benjamin Moore products for the exterior, and also in the interior. The other products were not holding up and it wasn’t even a year. Any cleaning of the surfaces left marking.
It’s time to relax, time to go on vacation. Why not use some beachy colours in your home, business or office? I have always loved the names and colours of the different sands, and references to a tropical paradise… enjoy, and relax. If you need to have a white that is perfect for each colour, I love to use AF-20 Mascarpone. It is a soft, warm white, kind of like Cloud White but better.
The colours I am going to paint in my house- yes, I do get to paint for me every once in awhile.. Kona for a feature wall, Etuscan AF-355 for my main colour. My trim colour is Spanish White , and another feature colour is Pashmina AF-100. Currently, I have the colour Mystic Gold in my home with Sun Dried Tomato as features, with Caramel Apple as well. Caramel Apple is what I also used for my exterior stucco. I am hoping to do Kona for my front door and side doors.
Today I was sanding and filling holes in my new baseboards, and repairing some drywall issues because we took the flat screen tv off the wall. I am going to be changing all my picture frames to black and will be doing a photo wall in my tv room.
Stay tuned as to what Pixie is up to. Sprinkling some magic in my own house…
A lot has been happening at the reno at the condo, I have been working alongside a tiler who is doing some beautiful work, he is from England. Towards the end of the week, a new kitchen was added in the condo, a local cabinet company did the gorgeous cabinetry. Linen White is the colour of the cabinets, and the kitchen colour is AF-100 Pashmina from the Affinity Colours of Benjamin Moore. Pashmina goes with warm colours and the trim will be AF-20 Mascarpone. Some ceiling details have been painted in the front entrance and will go nicely with the other neutrals in the home. The laundry room has been painted, along with the ceiling in there. I was covering over a gold paint, and the Benjamin Moore Ceiling Paint- Ultra Flat covered over this nicely. I am painting the ceilings AF-20 Mascarpone. For the hood in the kitchen, I am painting it to match the cabinetry, and it is a delicate surface, and sprayed a primer called Stix on it. TSP was used to remove dirt and grease from the surface, and a light sanding was done. Regal Pearl was used for the topcoat, both inside and out. A cabinet is going in beside the fireplace in the living room, the same as the kitchen cabinets. At the moment, the fireplace mantle is an ultra white, I am changing this to the colour of the cabinets, the product being used will be Aura Satin. The front door is currently a dated Oak. I am going to be painting it out in Aura Satin in the same colour as the wall colour in the front entrance. One question the homeowner raised with me was, “will we be staring at the trim that is white around the door? “. There are many questions involved with painting during a reno, my main goal is to achieve a colour makeover we are both happy with! It will be interesting to follow this along, stay tuned!
Follow me along as I do a repaint of a luxury condo – I will post the photos and describe the products and colours that I am providing to the client. Grab a sanding sponge, a brush, and good paint, and follow me along. Let me show you how to create some magic in someone’s home- Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust!
I have been asked many times how to create a warm environment in a home or business- I have used Benjamin Moore’s Old World Colours several times to achieve this result.
